Create & contribute

Developer Marketing Alliance (DMA) is home to a growing network of 1,000s of developer marketers.

Since its launch, DMA has received tens of thousands of visits from professionals from some of the world’s leading companies, all looking to learn more about the latest trends and developments in the industry, from developer marketing to developer relations, communities, and experience – and everything in-between.

To power up our ever-expanding community of marketing pros, we’re always on the lookout for people just like you to share your expertise and help us shape the future of developer marketing.

Interested in sharing your insights and experiences with our community? Read on to find out how you can contribute to the DMA platform.

Get involved

Write for us ✍️

Whether you want to write about developer marketing, DevRel, and dev communities, or developer experience, SaaS, personas and segmentation, we want to hear more.

If you’ve got the insights, we’ve got the platform.

Here’s how to contribute. 👇

Step 1: Submit your subject

Before you put your fingers to the keyboard, drop us a line and let us know what you want to write about. Some popular topics include:

  • Developer relations and advocacy
  • Building and growing communities (inc. open-source)
  • DevTools and technologies
  • Events (hackathons, webinars, etc.)
  • Content, social media, and technical documentation
  • Industry trends
  • Thought leadership
  • Developer culture, pain points, needs
  • SaaS marketing, user acquisition, etc.
  • DevOps
  • Marketing APIs, SDKs, and other tools

Step 2: Follow the rules

We’re a reasonable bunch and don’t ask for too much, but there are a few things we want:

  • Articles need to have a minimum of 1000 words
  • Any pictures included must be royalty-free
  • A picture to sit with your contributor profile
  • A short bio of maximum 200 characters

Also, individual contributions shouldn’t promote your company’s products or services. For that sort of stuff, we have sponsorship opportunities.

See below for these opportunities!

Step 3: Submit your work

Either send Teresa a message on Slack or reach her by email (teresa@developermarketing.io) and remember to include the link/attachment to your article along with your profile pic and bio – if you’re not already set up as a contributor, that is.

Already published something awesome elsewhere?

Not a problem. With canonical links, you can still share it with our audience too.

Yawn 💤 time for the boring bits…

Image policy

We include images with every post. Stock photography will be chosen by our team and will be posted with your entry unless you have a particular image you wish to use. By including any photos, screenshots, or images, you consent to allow the Developer Marketing Alliance to post this image.

Link policy

Links in your post should be relevant to the story you’re telling and provide context to your audience. When referring to another article or piece of research, please use a proper citation or link to the source material.

If you are submitting a post in which any link(s) MUST be included and/or you want to promote your business, this would constitute sponsored content – which we do, but for a fee.

Links we accept ✅

  • Relevant articles and posts
  • Research or data
  • Resources that will benefit the community and make sense in the context of the article

Links we don’t accept 🚫

  • Affiliate links
  • Links to your company website (homepage, About Us, Contact, Prices, Products, etc.)
  • Product/service/pricing pages
  • Category/tag pages
  • Company social media profiles

Syndication policy

We reserve the right to use any and all contributed content, with credit to any authors, in its entirety or in portions for promotional purposes, including in social media, other blogs, or newsletters. Developer Marketing Alliance may choose to cross-post to Medium, LinkedIn, or other blogging services.

Speak at an event 📆

Our Developer Marketing summits assemble developer marketers, DevRels, product marketers, community managers, and more, from the world’s leading organizations.

We meet – whether in person or virtually – to discuss the state of developer marketing, to share strategies and tactics that work, to help people grow in their careers, and so much more.

If you have insights to share, we want to hear them.

To be considered to speak at one of our summits or virtual events, where you’ll have the chance to address fellow marketers and developers (and make an impact), apply here or message us on Slack.

Guest or host a podcast 🎙️

We provide thought leaders with a platform to share not only their experiences, but also their unique insights and perspectives on developer marketing, DevRel, developer communities, etc.

What to feature on a podcast episode? Or maybe you’d like to host your own? Contact teresa@developermarketing.io to let us know!
